I issued a State of Emergency for the Town of Chapel Hill at 1 p.m. today due to a water shortage for Orange Water and Sewer Authority (OWASA) customers.
At this time, OWASA has directed their customers not to use the water.
We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this issue.
Our Emergency Operations team is working closely with our partners. They anticipate that this situation is temporary and are doing everything they can to restore access to water.
Fortunately, the shortage is limited to the OWASA service area. Water is available in Northern Orange and neighboring counties.
If you have questions about water issues, call 919-245-6111.
You can stay informed on the Town's website, townofchapelhill.org, OWASA's website, owasa.org, the Orange County Health Department's website, orangecountync.gov/departments/health, and on the Town's social media accounts: Twitter @chapelhillgov and Facebook.com/ChapelHillGov, as well as local media channels.
