Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation releases Winter-Spring Program Brochure
Registration opens Jan. 3 for residents
The Town of Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Department will release their program brochure for Winter-Spring Programs on Monday, Dec. 5. Patrons may browse recreation programs and activities that range from Youth and Adult Sports, to added Weekly Teen Programs and Outdoor Adventure programs - one of our newest offerings.
New to this year’s line-up are Outdoor Adventure programs, including rock climbing, kayaking, and mountain biking clinics. Paddle the Eno River, or join us for a Bike Maintenance and Trail Riding at Chapel Hill’s Community Center.
The Town's youth and adult athletic programs, ranked third as the community’s highest satisfaction with various aspects of Parks and Recreation. In January, youth may enjoy skills development in the NC Wildcats Basketballs Clinic, and in mid-March play Pee Wee and Little League baseball. Adult basketball leagues and softball leagues are ongoing next spring, beginning in mid-February and April respectively.
The Street Scene Teen Center has a new name … The Corner. A place to connect, belong, grow and lead, The Corner is piloting a new series of programs this year on select evenings targeted to a high school audience. Staff and area youth worked together to create these new recreational, cultural and academic opportunities, geared toward youth’s interests. “Through surveys and community meetings, teens let us know they wanted a greater diversity of programs to better meet their interests, and we are pleased to respond with a host of new offerings,” said Jim Orr, Director for the Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation Department.
Public parks and recreation are the gateways to a healthier, more livable community. At Chapel Hill Parks & Recreation, we continue to expand our efforts in making a positive change in the health and wellness in Chapel Hill and Orange County.
