Homegrown Halloween: Tuesday, Oct. 31

The Town of Chapel Hill continues its preparation efforts for the night of Halloween (Tuesday, Oct. 31) with the focus on safety for people and property.

“We launch a massive cooperative effort to encourage safety at Halloween on Franklin Street,” said Town Manager Roger Stancil. “We are in this together – Town, University, students, businesses and residents – in support of our community and its many visitors.” Click here to read more.

(2 p.m.) The Parks and Recreation Department has cancelled pottery classes scheduled for this evening. The classes are pre-school and kindergarten clay and pre-teen pottery. Other programs are on schedule. Information: 968-2784.

(8 a.m.) Services provided by the Town of Chapel Hill have not been disrupted due to the early morning snowfall. Buses, garbage and yard waste collection, library, recreation and other government activities are operating on their usual schedules. Public Works crews were out in the early morning hours spreading brine and sand to keep the roads clear of ice and passable for Chapel Hill Transit buses and other vehicles.
