Dear Neighbors,

Mark your calendars to join your community on our second Chapel Hill Adopt-A-Trail volunteer work day.

Location: Lower Booker Creek Trail
Meeting Place: Near the Markham Drive Entrance
Date: Saturday February 17th
Time:  Between the hours of 10 and 2 (any part thereof)

The Parks, Greenways and Recreation Commission has adopted the Lower Booker Creek Trail with the goal of enhancing the physical ecology and creating community around the trail.  Our first initiative, with guidance from the NC Botanical Garden, is to clear the trail of invasive plants.

On Jan. 27th  we had our first volunteer work day. Together our team of 16 cleared approximately one-half acre of invasive privet.  We exposed magnificent boulders as well as the forest floor which enhanced the visibility of native plants, wildlife, and the creek. Creating community around our neighborhood trail, while helping the environment is very gratifying.

We look forward to an even larger group and meeting new volunteers on the 17th.  Please contact Jeanettebench82@gmail.com to let me know if you are interested.

You'll know that you live in a great community when several people passing on the trail stop to express their thanks and ask how they can get involved.
